ProFractional Laser
The MedSpa at Wake Plastic Surgery proudly serves Cary, Raleigh, and the surrounding areas.
The ProFractional Laser from Sciton is a powerful laser that can treat targeted areas of skin to improve the appearance of scars, scars from surgery, acne scars, deep wrinkles and more. The ProFractional Laser is a type of C02 laser that uses a completely customizable high ablation frequency to create micro channels in the skin, precisely targeting the area of concern. These micro-channels jumpstarts the body’s natural wound healing response, which dramatically increases new collagen production and a noticeable improvement in skin texture and skin quality. Because of how customizable the ProFractional Laser is, it can be combined with other laser treatments such as the HALO or BBL to fully optimize your results depending on your skin’s unique needs.
Is the ProFractional Scar Laser right for me?
The ProFractional Laser can be used on all skin types and treats multiple areas of the body including the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, and legs. After a comprehensive consultation with one of our licensed medical aestheticians or aesthetic nurses, you may find the ProFractional Laser is right for you if you are wanting to improve:
- Pigmented lesions such as sunspots
- Actinic Keratosis (rough, scaly patches of skin)
- The appearance of scars
- Deep wrinkles
- Acne scars
- Skin Complexion
- Dull Skin
What should I expect during the treatment?
We want to make sure that our patients are as comfortable as possible, so before your treatment starts with one of our licensed medical aestheticians or aesthetic nurses will apply a topical numbing cream to the skin being treated. You should feel minimal to no discomfort during your treatment. The treatment usually takes 30-45 minutes to complete and afterwards, you will most likely feel warm for up to an hour after your treatment.
What should I expect after the treatment?
Depending on the area of the body that is treated, there may be some downtime after the treatment, but the good news is that there is not a long recovery period for the treated area. If you are treating the face and neck, you may have a downtime of about 2 days. As the skin of the treated areas heal, you may feel slightly itchy and swollen. This sensation should go away in about 3 to 5 days. To help your skin recover and so that you get the best results possible, it is important to keep the skin moisturized with non-fragranced products and to avoid direct sun exposure and to use a strong SPF for 4 weeks after your treatment. A great time to consider getting any laser treatments is in the Fall and Winter, or “Laser Season,” when most people spend less time in the sun.
