Dermaplaning

The MedSpa at Wake Plastic Surgery proudly serves Cary, Raleigh, and the surrounding areas.

Dermaplaning is when one of our licensed medical aestheticians use a small blade to gently exfoliate the skin on the face, removing vellus hair, or peach fuzz, and dead skin cells in the process. By removing the top layer of dead skin cells, skincare products and serums used during treatments can melt into the skin easier – you get smooth, silky skin and the peace of mind that you are getting the maximum potential from your products and treatments!

Fact or Fiction: Will my hair grow back thicker after dermaplaning?

Can you combine dermaplaning with other treatments?

Dermaplaning is a wonderful treatment on its own, but it can also be added-on to other treatments like custom facials, DiamondGlow facials, and enzyme peels like the BioRePeel.

What should you expect during your dermaplaning treatment?

You can except your medical aesthetician to use a small dermaplaning blade to gently shave and exfoliate the peach fuzz and dead skin cells off your face. It is painless and there is absolutely no downtime! In addition to helping your products absorb into your skin, you can also expect to see other benefits over time with monthly dermaplaning services including smoother skin texture, reduced appearance of acne scars, and minimized appearance of fine lines. It is important to note that while dermaplaning is beneficial for all skin types, is not a great treatment for people with rosacea.

What do our medical aestheticians use to dermaplane?

Our medical aestheticians used a scalpel to gently shave off the outer most layer of facial hair and dead skin cells. Professional, medical grade dermaplaning blades are different than the disposable razors commonly seen at drugstores, as the professional blades are made from stainless steel and have a completely different shape and edge that is designed to safely give a close shave and exfoliation that the drugstores options can’t compare to.
